Bandpass Filters
Bandpass filters are one of the simplest ways to improve image quality. They are designed to emulate the output of today’s most common types of LEDs used in industrial imaging. All of JNS’s Bandpass Filters have an Anti-Reflection Coating to ensure maximum performance.

Narrow Bandwidth Filters
Narrow Bandwidth Filters are further categorized into 2 sub categories; Narrow Bandwidth (214 Series) and Narrow Interreference Bandwidth (209 Series).
Narrow Bandwidth (214 series) offer superior out of band blocking with a guaranteed peak transmission ≥ 85%. In most cases the 214 Series of Bandpass Filters offer FWHM of 45-55nm. The double side polished glass sued in the manufacturing of these filters result sin exceptional parallelism and optical flatness.
Narrow Bandwidth filters from JNS are designed to be used with laser diodes and LEDs in applications with overwhelming ambient light. Narrow bandwidth filters from JNS are popular in outdoor applications where sunlight is present (for example, surveillance or license plate recognition).

Narrow Interference Bandwidth (209 Series) filters are designed to be used with laser diodes and are frequently used in applications where only discreet wavelength need to be present. These filters are popular amongst life sciences and laser analysis applications.
Narrow Interreference Bandwidth filters offer:
- High transmission, usually ≥ 85%
- FWHM 20-335nm
- Reflective mirror type surface that helps minimize thermal effects

Multi Bandpass Filters
Dual and Triple Bandpass filters are hard coat single substrate fabrication. Multi Bandpass filters are ideal for imaging applications that utilize daytime sunlight and NIR illumination at night. Multi Bandpass Filters achieve accurate color rendition by blocking interfering wavelengths and can eliminate the need for dual sensor imaging. Dual and Triple Bandpass Filters are most commonly used for security and surveillance, intelligent traffic solutions and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Imaging.

Longpass Filters
Longpass filters are optical filters that reflect shorter wavelengths and transmit (pass) longer wavelengths. Longpass filters from JNS provide a seamless transition from reflection to transmission.
Longpass filters from JNS:
- Available in wavelength ranges from 350nm – 1500nm
- Peak transmission ≥ 90%
- Anti-reflection coated for maximum transmission in VIS and NIR spectrums
- Can be combined with shortpass filters for a fine tuned custom bandpass filter
- Exceptional 40/20 scratch/dig surface quality
- Double side polished for exceptional parallelism and optical flatness
Long Pass Protective Filters
Protective Filters from JNS as designed not only for lens protection but also for maximum transmission. Protective Filters from JNS are made from high quality polished glass or optical grade acrylic.

Shortpass NIR Cut Filters
Shortpass filters (1916 Series) are often referred to as “IR-Cut Filters”. These filters are specifically designed to pass a broad spectrum of shorter wavelength light while blocking longer (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. Infrared filters are often confused as the term can be applied to filters that pass infrared or filters that block infrared.
JNS categorizes our Shortpass (1196 Series) into “Vis Pass” and “VIS Pass / NIR Block”
1916 Series – VIS Pass:
- Separate colors in monochrome or color applications
- Improve contrast and resolution
1916 Series – VIS Pass / NIR Block
- Often used to achieve a natural color rendition by blocking NIR light from the camera’s sensor
- Used as a hot mirror to reduce unwanted heat build-up caused by IR radiation
Both the VIS Pass and the VIS Pass / NIR Block offer:
- Peak transmission generally ≥ 90%
- Anti-reflection coated for maximum transmission
- Designed for a sharp transition between short and longer wavelengths
- 40/20 scratch/dig (exceptional surface quality)

Neutral Density
Neutral Density (ND) Filters are used to reduce the intensity of light be reflecting or absorbing it. ND Filters are often referred to as the “sunglasses for your system.” JNS offers both reflective and absorptive ND filters.
144 Series – Visible Spectrum (VIS)
- Absorptive filter effective form 425-675nm
- Optical densities ranging from 0.10 to 6.0
149 Series – Broad Spectrum VIS/NIR
- Low reflectivity filter effective from 400-2000nm
- Optical densities ranging from 0.3 – 2.0
- Coated on low expansion Borofloat® Glass

Polarizing Filters
Polarizing filters reduce reflection and enhance contrast. Polarizing Filters from JNS are designed to reduce specular glare by passing only the light polarized in the direction perpendicular to the reflected light (glare.)

Protective Filters
Protective filters are designed to protect you lens in any environment. Great for everyday use and these filters can also shield your lens in the harshest of environments. These filters are designed to shield against dirt, dust, liquids and impact without sacrificing image quality.

Light Balancing Filters
Light balancing filters correct artificial lighting so colors appear more natural. The use of light balancing filters from JNS often reduced or eliminates the need for software process resulting in greater image stability and control.
